Mobile Applications Monitor Noise

A mobile phone application developed by Sony Computer Science Laboratory will help make the environment more peaceful and far from noise pollution.

Nicolas Maisonneuve from Sony's labs in France and his team have developed a software application that can be downloaded named NoiseTube. NoiseTube use of smartphone users, to monitor the noise pollution that occurred in its place. "His goal is to make the phone as environmental sensors," said Masionneuve.

Initially this application works with a microphone to record sound through the phone. User then prompted to label the tape that they had to gather information such as sound source, before it is sent to the server NoiseTube.

Once the data is labeled with the name of the street and the city, this data is then converted by a software center in a format that can be used in Google Earth. Software in this server would then mark the location of which was considered noisy, with a danger label.
